ConQuesT PRIME is coming!
ConQuesT is Kansas City’s longest-running Science Fiction and Fantasy convention, and I am honored to be participating once again this year! It takes place May 27 – 29, 2016.
Here is my schedule for ConQuesT 47:
Story in a Bag, Saturday May 28, 10 AM & 12 PM
We’ll be doing two sessions of our most popular programming item. The challenge, should you choose to accept it: Write a story in less than an hour, using random prompts you’ve drawn at random from a bag. Bring your favorite writing tool!
Last year, we had nearly 60 entries. For 2016, we’ve changed the age divisions:
Young Fan: age 12 and younger
Young Adult: age 13-16
Adult: age 17 and older

Panel: Costuming characters in your writing, Sunday May 29, 10 AM
Writers need to consider all manner of things when clothing the people in their stories. Include textiles and garment design in your world-building!

I’ll be reading from my story “Uno Por Cada” – described by Publishers’ Weekly as “brightly featured Mexican magic realism”, one of the “most memorable” in Hadley Rille Books’ newest anthology Ruins Excavation. An archeologist and her sister, a puppeteer, are targeted by a time-traveling slave trader–but the Day of the Dead is near, and things are not all that they seem.
